It's that time of year where I purge some things I haven't worn in several months .. I hate doing this on here, but I hate dealing with eBay even more, so here you have it:
Phi OTK brown platform boots - size 38 - Worn 1x. - $500 (I had originally offered these for cheaper -- due to a ton of people emailing me after my Twitter post and a very confusing bidding war via email, I am now selling these for the highest offer I received thru email .. had no idea they were so coveted!)
Chloe doc tall platform wedge boots, red leather - size 38.5, will fit a 38 or 37.5 (run about 1/2 size small) - moderate wear, these need a minor repair from a cobbler, one of the soles needs a little glue (not sure who to credit the photo collage to -- lmk if you're the owner). - $300SOLD
Marni platforms, white leather w/ colored stones - size 38, will also fit a 38.5 - worn 1x - $125
Email me at halcoholic@gmail.com if interested. PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING. Please email for a total w/ shipping included. I will ship overseas.
Big thanks to Kitami Ropa for sending me this 80's vintage mohair sweater. I chose this piece because I was really into the kitschy leather Egyptian detailing. The tag says "Dino Valiano - Made in Western Germany." I think this probably would've looked better with my Miu Miu clogs, but it was raining today so I pulled out the Chloes instead.
These boots were an a/w '09 purchase, and I think they'll hold up quite nicely through this season as well. The only minor complaint I have is the complete absence of a platform, which makes for some tricky downhill walking. With a platform, however, I think they might start to look too much like Sketchers. The cream laces and the folded shaft pretty much make the shoe. People tend to either really love or really hate these boots; I love them.
This 3-finger ring by Adelina Mictlan is my new favorite gold-tone piece. Ms. Mictlan recently had some pieces showcased at my hair salon in South Philly, and I was completely blown away by what I saw. Her work is on-trend while still maintaining the distinctiveness of her vision. I can tell a lot of thought was put into this design, and I really appreciate that. The rings are positioned in a way that makes for easy movement of the fingers ... I don't have any trouble changing diapers with this on. The brushed finish is appropriately understated, and the brass has yet to turn me green (and I turn very quickly), so I know she uses high-quality materials. Definitely someone to keep an eye on! The spiked bracelet is a piece of junk jewelry from ebay ... I also have it in silver. These tend to be pretty cumbersome, so it was in my purse by noon.
My boy has been fed so now I'm off to make tacos for my husband ... more soon! &hearts
Miuccia Prada Live Alive "tour" shirt by Sandberg&Timonen for Branchfield Gallery, my own DIY denim vest, custom "alligator" tie-dyed leggings, Rick Owens boots, vintage Balenciaga sunglasses, See By Chloe blue leather hobo.
Can you tell I'm really stoked on this shirt? Well, I am. I had meant to order one of these when they came out months ago, but just never got around to it. A couple of weeks ago I emailed Branchfield Gallery asking if there were any left (fat chance), and they had ONE -- in the Muiccia Prada print, no less! I loved all the versions of this shirt; it's such a cheeky, stupid concept that Sandberg&Timonen managed to make really badass. Plus, 100% of the proceeds went towards relief in Haiti. Mine will be all worn thin by the end of the summer, for sure.
It rained yesterday AND today ... what a total buzzkill.
I don't use this bag very often, but I should. I really enjoy the magnetic closure, soft royal blue leather, and quirky gold hardware. Claw necklace by Blood Milk
I love these vintage Balenciaga tinted shades .. they have octagonal frames, which is what sold me on them, clearly. Despite the purple color scheme, they get a lot of use from me.
More black metal propaganda paired with Chloe & Rick Owens ... to piss you off, of course:
Always a good way to conclude a post ;) Rings by Chanel, Pamela Love, and other custom designs paired with a resurrected handcuff bracelet, chain bracelet by Juicy Couture, custom etched sterling bangle.
Trying to post quickly today; I have a very busy day ahead of me filled with lots of exciting tasks like paying bills, writing business proposals for my husband, getting in touch with physicians and my elusive landlady, writing writing and more writing, buying groceries ... the list is interminable.
Free people sweaterdress, Topshop blazer, Chloe wedge boots, Ralph Lauren glasses, Jas M.B. leather tote, Chanel scarf, a shitload of gold chains & rings.
I got a mani-pedi yesterday, and I unwittingly had my nails painted to match the dress I wore that night. L to R: green/gold vintage cocktail ring from Aci Nae, goldtone costume ring from estate sale, black jade ring. The ring finger ring I found on the street yesterday! I brought it to our local jeweler and he told me it is 18k gold with topaz and little diamonds. Pretty lucky birthday surprise!
These Chloe boots are one of only 3 brown pairs of shoes that I own, and they're definitely my favorite of the trifecta. They're very versatile, as they can be worn with casual dresses or skinny jeans and still look appropriate. Unfortunately, I'm still in search of the perfect brown leather bag.
We went to Continental Midtown last night, which is an old favorite of mine. I always order the spicy mustard shoestring fries to share, and the crab pad thai. The seared ahi tuna is also excellent, but I can't eat raw fish while I'm pregnant.
Obviously, I got sooo drunk off of this virgin Buzz Aldrin. It's normally made with tangerine Smirnoff or something. The Continental has really fun drinks. One of them is blue and comes with Smartees; I forget what they call it. We sat upstairs, which has a lounge and these fun basket seats that are suspended by chains from the ceiling. Unfortunately our photos in there did not come out well, sorry!
Overall, a very fun 24th birthday spent with my love. &hearts
Be sure to check out this month's Decibel magazine, which features an extensive six page editorial on Pentagram. The article, written by J. Bennett, includes plentiful rare photos and an interview with Bobby Liebling, Victor Griffin, Joe Hasselvander, and Martin Swaney about the making of the seminal debut album Relentless, which has been inducted into the Decibel Hall of Fame. You can buy the issue at your local Borders or Barnes and Noble.
Pentagram circa 1983. L to R: Victor Griffin, Joe Hasselvander, Bobby Liebling, Martin Swaney. Photo courtesy of Jeffrey Lee. Note: Out of respect to the musicians pictured and their strong beliefs regarding this matter, I'd like to make it explicitly clear that this is an old photo and none of these men currently endorse any blasphemous or anti-Christian imagery or ideals.
Pentagram's Relentless, along with their other albums, can be purchased through Amazon:
The critically acclaimed 1985 classic debut is also being reissued on 180 gram vinyl through Peaceville on May 24th. The limited edition rereleased LP is to be housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve and will come with a full-sized A3 poster. You can reserve a copy through the Peaceville website.
Relentless, with its abrasive lo-fi charm and mammoth riffs, is my personal favorite Pentagram release, closely followed by 1987's Day of Reckoning.
The Death Row lineup performing "All Your Sins" in 1983. As usual, footage courtesy of Jeffrey Lee, our endlessly loyal and doggedly supportive close friend. Sincerest thanks to Jeff for his constant willingness to share his jaw-droppingly extensive collection of Pentagram-related media.
Pentagram will be on tour in May, kicking off in Raleigh on May 21st and finishing at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on May 30th.
My husband and I got a care package from Black Widow records congratulating us on our marriage, and it came with this amazing Death Row shirt which I promptly claimed as my own. My husband's photo is on the bottom right.
Nothing special: Worn with Chloe red "Doc" boots, Chanel, vintage, custom designs, & Pamela Love jewelry; Topshop tights, and a fake red sunflower I found off of someone's wreath. Klassy with a "K."
I saw these exact boots in some lame Ashlee Simpson video the other day, LOL.
This is a really cool 70s vintage choker I acquired last year. I forget where I got it now, but it's great. It's very close-fitting to the neck, has a big gaudy bead, and the clasp is magnetic closure. Oh and by the way, I LOVE Slaughter and the Dogs with a fiery passion.
Here's footage circa 1983 of my husband performing under the Death Row moniker with Victor Griffin, Marty Swaney, and Joe Hasselvander:
The picture doesn't come in until 50 seconds into the video or so, but it is an incredible performance from a band who was more than innovative for their time. Video credit goes to Jeffrey Lee.
Some more photos from the tour ... I do not have the proper credits for the people who took these photos, so if they are yours please contact me and I will give you credit.

This photo is from when we got married. It was just the two of us and the preacher took pretty awful photos, but we love them anyway. I wear: Miu Miu dress, vintage belt, Chloe Boots, American Apparel thigh-highs. He wears: Junya Watanabe denim patchwork blazer, vintage button-up, vintage pants, his own boots.
